Have your concerns addressed from the comfort of your home!
We are currently booked for INITIAL VISITS.
We are doing our part at Pathways Developmental Pediatrics to keep ourselves and our community healthy. We have transitioned to Telephone and Telemedicine Visits for both Initial and Follow-up appointments.
We appreciate you considering this practice for your child’s care and look forward to working with you!
Telephone Options:
Established Patient Phone Consult
For patients who have been seen by this practice in the past, and there is a question, or concern about the child’s behavior or development. This appointment type is also for established patients who require a new medication or change in dose of a medication, or when parents/caregivers wish to discuss next steps in their child’s care. Unfortunately, phone consults are not covered by insurance. Please use the telemedicine option if you wish to use your health insurance.
30 minutes; $105
New Patient Phone Consult
For patients who have not been seen by this practice in the past. While your child cannot be evaluated over the phone, this appointment is a great option for parents who wish to discuss their concerns about their child, have previous evaluations reviewed, and establish a plan for next steps in their child’s care, including educational goals, behavior management, and lifestyle modifications. Unfortunately, telephone consults are not covered by insurance. If you have insurance with a high deductible, Medicaid, or out of network insurance, you may find this option to be more financially practical over a telemedicine visit.
40 Minutes; $160
Telemedicine Options:
Established Patient Telemedicine Visit
This appointment type is for patients who have already been seen at Pathways Developmental Pediatrics, and wish to have ongoing follow-up. Commonly addressed concerns with this visit type include questions about a new behavior, medication changes, questions about a change in development, discussion about educational and developmental goals, and therapy plans.
You will be given a link when scheduling, which will allow you to access my virtual waiting room at the time of your appointment. If you would like to discuss with your child how to prepare for this new type of visit, you may find this Sample Dialogue beneficial.

New Patient Part 1 Telemedicine Visit
This telemedicine visit is for patients new to Pathways Developmental Pediatrics. During this 40 minute visit, Dr. Frazier will speak with parent(s) and the child being evaluated, as well as conduct a neurobehavioral exam. When scheduling, please be sure to upload any documents as well as complete the Telemedicine Welcome Packet. These will be reviewed just prior to your appointment time, and will help to ensure an evaluation tailored to your specific concerns.

New Patient Part 2 Telemedicine Visit
This appointment type is a feedback session where Dr. Frazier discusses findings and recommendations from your child's initial assessment (Part 1). This should be scheduled so that you are seen within a week of your Part 1 appointment. Ideally, this visit is a parent(s)-only visit in order to allow a free flowing discussion of findings and recommendations. However, it is understood that that can't always be arranged, and Dr. Frazier is happy to adapt her language to fit your situation.

Answers to Telemedicine FAQs:
Do I need any special equipment in order to have a telemedicine visit?
Telemedicine requires a smartphone or a computer with camera + microphone and internet connection. When you schedule an appointment, you will be provided a link to my virtual waiting room. At the time of your scheduled appointment, you may click on the link to enter the waiting room and begin your telemedicine session. You will not be required to download any software.
Do I need to move to a special place in my house, or do anything differently for the telemedicine visit?
Telemedicine is a great opportunity for me to observe your child’s behavior in his/her natural environment. Ideally, the visit can take place in a location in your home where you can prop your device (phone or computer) so that your hands are free to engage with your child during the visit, and Dr. Frazier is able to observe your child in free play. There is no need to set up a special place in your house, or clean up! Having siblings popping in and out, eating lunch, or even playing with the child being evaluated, is to be expected and will only add to the evaluation.
How do I prepare my child for the telemedicine visit?
We have created a Sample Dialogue to Child for both New and Follow-up patients, which you may find beneficial.
What should I expect during the telemedicine visit?
Telemedicine evaluations are tailored to address the specific concerns you have outlined on your intake paperwork and “reason for visit” section on the online scheduling platform. Depending on the age of your child, as well as your reason for visit, Dr. Frazier may observe your child in free play, ask that you engage and play with your child in a specific way during parts of the visit, and/or speak directly with your child. She will outline the format for your individual visit at the beginning of your session.
Are telemedicine visits covered by my health insurance?
The new laws in Virginia show that most commercial health insurance plans are now covering telemedicine visits. However, please remember that your health insurance is a contract between you and your insurance provider. It is your responsibility to know and understand your benefits. A great deal of information can be found by logging on to your health insurance’s website.
Are telemedicine visits going to give us the help and answers we need?
I have used telemedicine in the past, and have little reservation that telemedicine is an adequate platform for many developmental and behavioral visits. In fact, once we all become comfortable with the virtual aspect of this model, I anticipate it will allow for more accurate diagnoses, as valuable information is gained from behavioral observation in the natural, home environment.
“Dr. Frazier is caring and extremely insightful. She not only treats her patients but is also supportive of the parents and the stresses they experience parenting their children. Dr. Frazier has been so helpful to our kids and family as a whole. We would recommend her highly to anyone who needs a developmental pediatrician.”
